Looking over Verona

I am a 24-year-old graduate from Scotland who moved to Perugia, Umbria, Italy to be a Comenius assistant in the year 2013/14. If you want to find out more about the Comenius assistant programme look here and here.

 

At Agrigento, Sicily

Why Italy? Well for my year abroad I was a language assistant in Madrid and along the way I ended up with an Italian boyfriend. Yep that right I ended up with an Italian not a Spaniard! It’s safe to say I don’t always follow all the rules. Going to Spain and ending up with a Spanish boyfriend wouldn’t be a very interesting story. When people find out I have an Italian boyfriend who lives in Italy they are always curious about how we met.  They never expect the answer to be Madrid, Spain nor the fact that we both lived there and it wasn’t a holiday romance but a year abroad one. Deciding to take a year out from uni to go to Madrid and be an English language assistant (or auxiliar de conversacion) was one of the best decisions of my life!

Fast forward two years of doing long distance and I moved to Italy. You can read up about my adventures in Italy.

Then I went back to Madrid in 2014 where I was be an auxiliar de conversación through the BEDA programme.
