My time in Johannesburg through photos

It had been 5/6 years since I had last been to Johannesburg, which was far too long. For those of you who don’t know me South Africa has a huge chunk of my heart, well half to be precise. Spending about a month of my summer (South African winter) in Johannesburg was incredible. I got to eat and drink some of my favourite South African treats and see my family.

My trip started off with me flying in an airbus A380. You can’t tell in this picture but the plane is huge!

I enjoyed champagne on my airfrance flight!

I ate at steers, a South African fast food restaurant. It’s so good and better than McDonald’s.

I had South African Style roast dinners.

I went to Soweto and drove past Mandela’s house.

I had some delicious kingklip, which is found along the southern African coast. It is one of the most popular dishes on South African menus. If you like fish you should try kingklip when you are in South Africa.

I spent a night at Gold Reef City casino, no gambling was involved, just food. Gold Reef City is located on an old gold mine. There is an amusement park, a casino, some museums, restaurants and hotels. Oh, and of course gold elephants!

I spent my night at back o’ the moon restaurant. At back o’ the moon you dine while a live jazz band play music. There is also a dance floor, so after your dinner you can dance the night away.

My delicious meal at back o’ the moon. We were also lucky enough to see a wedding proposal happen. She said yes, he looked like all his dreams had come true.

I finally tried a cronut! It was delicious.

It may have been winter but it wasn’t that cold!

I watched some incredible sunsets.

Overall it was a great trip and it was a nice way to spend part of my summer.

Have you ever been to South Africa?

  1. Seems like a great trip. I have seen to South Africa one time. But just in the south part (Cape town ect).
I would love to see Johannesburg, but every warmed me as they say it is so dangerous. What is your opinion on that?

    • You should come and visit us!! Jozi is definitely an underrated city, misunderstood and victim of misconceptions!! It may not have the stunning beauty of the Cape, but it has an energy that I have not seen in many places!! Let us know if you need more info on the city, there are a few bloggers out there who are more than happy to share what they know of the city!!😉
